Thank you so much Fearless_Ambo for comissioning this amazing livery!
This livery a perfect compliment to the newly posted "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - LittleNavmap flight plans and performance file" !
Check also the Douglas DC-3 - Air East Asia (From Raiders of the Lost Ark)
This DC-3 livery is based on the "W. Donovan Corporation" private plane owned by Walter Donovan, the main "evil" antagonist of the classic adventure film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". Donavan is a majorly wealthy and narcissistic sociopath who believes that money should and can purchase him everything, so of course he has his own opulent private plane with the best of everything Douglas had to offer in 1938. According to the Internet Movie Plane Database (https://www.impdb.org/index.php?title=Indiana_Jones_and_the_Last_Crusade) the plane was a Douglas C-47B-35-DK Dakota IV carrying registration N170GP, c/n 16688, and military serial 44-77104.
For the cockpit, it was cleaned up to be a bit less "battle worn" with a cleaner instrument panel, yoke column, nice leather pilot's seats, and a cleaner/newer upholstery on the sides.
As this was the late 30's and a private plane owned by a crazy rich person, we went with as much of an upscale art deco interior as the model allows. Since we have no pictures of what it actually looked like, we had to use our imaginations. We took most of the design ideas from Donovan's office in which he meets Indy and proposes the Grail adventure. Lots of white fabric, wood tones, brushed metal and general wealthy opulence, because only a massively wealthy individual would ever put off-white fabric seats in an airplane. It's madness.
Don't forget to take a few minutes to look around and find some film Easter egg nods to Indy's earlier adventures scattered through the plane!
