MSFS Livery Tools
MSFS Livery Tools is a Windows application to help creating liveries for existing aircrafts on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It deals with all bureaucratic steps of livery creation, so that you can focus on your creative work:
- Package your livery and automatically create the needed files and folders.
- Create texture maps from glTF files (including those already built for MSFS).
- Extract images from glTF JSON files and compress them again to DDS format.
- Convert selected DDS images to PNG and back to DDS.
- Creating the directory structure of a package.
- Creating an "aircraft.cfg" file based on the original aircraft and variation information.
- Creating a "manifest.json" file (optionally based on the original manifest).
- Creating a "panel.cfg" file and changing:
- variation override;
- external registration font color and stroke.
- Creating descriptive JSON files for DDS textures (.DDS.json).
- Creating flag file for textures (.FLAGS) – not on the graphical user interface.
- Creating and updating package layout files ("layout.json").
- Managing thumbnails (converting from capture tool, resizing and adding a placeholder).
Instalation and usage
Download and install latest release. A shortcut will be created in your windows menu. Refer to the wiki for help.

I put in the texture file name (PA24_AIRFRAME_MAIN_COMP.PNG.DDS) from the default texture file but nothing happens and everything remains grayed out.

Tried to install and it keeps telling me it can't open the files it's supposed to be writing.

Do you have write permission to the folder where you're trying to create your livery projects? Or is it during installation?
If it is an error during the utilization of the software, please send me the messages at the secondary (minimized terminal) window.

Hi! The executable file is an installer. Install the application and you may start creating your liveries, as easily as it can be!
There is an usage manual at https://github.com/leandroarndt/msfs_livery_tools/wiki/Usage
Texture editing tips may be found at https://github.com/leandroarndt/msfs_livery_tools/wiki/Texture-editing-tips
I've not done a step by step tutorial yet, but the above links should facilitate your learning.

Can this program be used to repair already created older liveries? I have quite a few that suffer from 'pink textures.'

You may try to create a new project, adjust the settings and copy your textures to the "texture" folder inside the project. It will probably work after packing.
Since it is might something with your layout.json file, you may also try to simply open MSFS Livery Tools, click the update layout.json button and select your layout.json.
Actually, I created this app after being stuck with pink textures on my first livery.
