Flying Flea HM 293 for Microsoft Flightsimulator 2020
The Flying Flea is an aircraft designed by Henri Mignet in a spirit of simplicity, safety and low cost. He offered the plans to everyone by means of a book, Le Sport de L'air, published in 1934. (excerpt from wikipedia)
Here it is the HM 293 model, evolution of the original model the HM14
It is only piloted on two axes: the pitch axis and the yaw axis.
The handle actuated in depth acts directly on the front wing by modifying the incidence of this wing and therefore the lift.
The rear wing is fixed.
The laterally operated stick (warping) acts on the rudder. As there are no ailerons, turning is therefore carried out by induced roll.
The pedals which are at the feet of the pilots act only on the right and left brakes what makes it possible to direct the louse on the ground (differential brakes) the wheel of nose being free.
These particularities require the simulator controls to be adapted.
Personally I assigned the steering axis to the warping stick and to the rudder I only kept the brakes.
The wings fold up with the spoilers command (it's up to you to assign a key or button to the "spoiler rocker" command)
To start the engine:(explanatory video on: https://youtu.be/PuWl9GDsoWM)
Battery on
Magneto 1 (ALL1) set to on
Magneto 2 (ALL2) on
Fuel pump 1 on
Alternator on
Press START button. Attention the flyng flea having no parking brake, it is necessary to maintain the pedals of brakes pressed the time of the starting
The Ctrl+E method only works if the plane is parked in the parking lot or on the runway. If this is not the case, you must start the power normally or put the fuel pump on before applying Ctrl+E.
You will find a screenshot of my control settings in the my documents folder as well as some photos of the real aircraft registered F-POUX, which served as my model at the request of its owner.(contact on http://oldpat.e-monsite.com/)
A paint kit folder including all the textures in .psd format will allow you to customize your plane.
This model is completely free and should not be the subject of any paid transaction.
Modifications or improvements are permitted subject to authorization by me and the owner of the actual aircraft.
Do not hesitate to visit the site http://pouguide.org/ in order to better know this extraordinary Flying Flea.
Good flight aboard Flying Flea HM 293

Excellent! A fun and unique little airplane. Perhaps you may consider a couple of new paints including something British so that I may begin a formation flight... Thanks.

Nice! very nice! It handle gently. I haven't flown a pou du ciel, althouth I've been studiying a closed cockpit replica in an aerodrome near me. My feeling is that, for a two axis, is too responsive to rudder, maybe you can give me more info about this 😊 by the way, how can I fold the wings?

Hi
thank you for your message
The sensitivity of the rudder is consistent with the real aircraft according to the pilot and manufacturer of the flying flea F-POUX.
The folding and unfolding of the wings is assigned to the spoiler control (see read-me.txt file)
Good flights

Bravo.

Hello
Great job.
I am the pilot of HM-293 and HM-1000 Balerit.
Please correct the entry in flight_model.cng to this
_[AIRPLANE_GEOMETRY]
-elevator_up_limit =24
elevator_down_limit =6
-rudder_limit =8
The flight model will be perfect.
Now I can train all year round. Thank you

Thanks a lot, it's a masterpiece. Beautiful, the 2 axes flight model is very nice. Perfect for slow VFR. My only small remark, the sound seems too smooth. Thanks again for your work.

Thank you for your comment.
For the sound you can use the settings of MSFS to rectify it to your liking
