VL3 915iS - JMB Aircraft

VL3 915iS from JMB aircraft 

The VL3 915iS is inspired by real world Youtuber Pilot Frank, the content creator about aviation and adventure surrounding germany.

Now you can even experience his trips and adventures, e.g. into the wilderness in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Plane is base on Asobo VL3 a lot of assets and textures from MSFS is using in the current  VL3 915iS

(!) Note: the 4 blade propeller setting is a bit slower than the version with 3 blades

(!) Version 1.0.8 is still a work in progress some buttons and checklist may not work properly. UV map of fuselage is current broken

  • add autopilot

  • adjust flight data (not completed yet)

Thanks, this addressed most of the issues of a great but incomplete aircraft. One big one being the autopilot panel. Now one of my favorite aircraft for it's flexibility.

1. very small, but it would be nice if it defaulted to Nav panel visible. The nav panel is a game changer, and a pleasant surprise as it was not highlighted in the Youtube videos i saw.

Great improvement also in taxi speed and very nice interior and exterior.

Really love this mod and the big work you have done to represent the 915iS version. Few notice that the instrument panel is new, just like the lever for the propeller etc etc, even the nose and air intakes made new! A fantasic job. I have tested in flight and I find it is a pleasure. Never flown in RL in a VL3 but only in aircrafts of this kind and if find it is plausible, seems really like a real one should be. I also have a request. VL3 have very stunning livery, and I like making them in my free time. I am not expert in Blender painting yet, can't you do a paintkit with a repaint ready folder and UV map for this aircraft? I have try to do them myself but to no avail. I would really like to add stunning new liveries to this little jewel. Thank for an answer. In the meantime aI do some liveries for the RV7, another of my favourite aircrafts in RL. A couple of them are almost ready and I will publish them soon.

I'm enjoying this very much. I do consider this a nice update to the untouched Rotax 915 Improvement Mod by TalonHawke. It will be nice to see where you go with this moving forward. Some things that still need to be ironed out a bit however besides the items you list on your description page; 

Found a bug with the different liveries - when selecting the others besides the default yellow one the transponder is not working on those models. Only on your base model. (works via the g3x but the physical unit is not showing power or linked in any way like on the default livery)

The 915 does not have magnetos but instead has what they call LANES: Please remove the switches. The 912is/915 fuel-injected engines have dual computer assemblies (Lanes) that control the operation of the fuel injectors and Spark Coils. This is a power-dependent system that requires the battery and/or generators for power. In a a typical setup we don’t have “mag switches” at all, the ECU (engine or electric control unit - depending on which one your talking about) handles this for you. If there is an error it throws a message that the G3x would indicate IRL. see FMI; https://goldenwingsteam.com/static/documentation/om-915i-A-ed0-r0.pdf

The G3x has integrated pitot heat and does not need a separate button for this and should not function this way as it is automatic. Please remove the button and integrate it back into the G3x operation like other models, and perhaps reassign the button to something more useful such as panel lights. Which works in your mod if bound.

Maybe hove the autopilot power on all the time and use the button for something else?

Any chance to make the landing light throw a bit further? I feel its way to short for a LED light these days.

I also am using this with Archer374’s custom cameras - very nice with your mod and I’d recommend to others; https://flightsim.to/file/49439/jmb-vl-3-rotax-915-si-mod-vertigo-maelstrom-better-cameras Just make sure you load it AFTER the aircraft mod … or it won’t work like I found out.

Excellent work, just like all your other aircraft. You can tell the amount of effort you put into creating this aircraft because you cannot tell the difference between what was already there from the default original model and what you added to the default model without looking at images from both of them side by side. This is for both exterior and interior.

I hope you continue to make other aircraft, whether it is one that was flown by pilot Frank or not. Just out of curiosity, do you know Frank personally? Or are you just a huge fan of his?

I'm a fan of ultralight craft, but always want a little more speed. Glad to see another pass at putting a 915 into the VL-3. Also nice to see that you're willing/able to play with the cockpit and 3d models. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

Any chance there's room for an autopilot panel on the dashboard?

I just got the newest version with the avionics fix, and it's definitely better. However, there's still a constant low pressure CAS warning when the engine is at idle (and no button to clear the warning?). Also, the 3d model looks like there's both a landing light and a taxi light (one on the nose and one on the landing gear strut), but there seems to be only one emitter (and one cockpit switch). Glareshield lights are defined, but don't appear to be operational either.

Just downloaded this and loving it. Everything I was looking for in a small aircraft. My checklist was single engine, retractable gear, decent speed, but mostly great visibility for those low and slow flights where you want to make the most of head tracking to enjoy the scenery. This checks all those boxes. Looks great and flies awesome.

My only suggestion is that I can toggle glareshield lights with an assigned button on my yoke but can't find a button in the aircraft to turn these on/off. And I can't find a way to illuminate the gauges for night flying. Would it be possible to add this option in a future update? Or if I'm missing a button, let me know where.

Really great job though. I can see this being in my top 3 list of go-to aircraft for casual flights when not flying the bigger birds.

Moin ich habe mal eine Frage. ich fliege sehr gerne mit der Vl3 915IS und fliege auch mit dem Autopilot aber wenn ich den Autopilot ausschalte steht im Garmin oben in der Mitte in gelb AP das sieht nicht so schön aus weiß jemand zufällig wie das Weg geht oder ist das ein Problem vom Flugzeug.
