Humberside Airport (EGNJ) is situated in Lincolnshire, Great Britain.
It's Christmas Eve and as your long journey from the south draws to a close, the temperature plummets and the freezing fog from the Humber Estuary starts closing in.
It's 3pm and the sun is already setting, bouncing and shimmering off the icy cold water particles lurking near the ground. Your Cessna 152 is only equipped with the very basics, no autopilot, no glass cockpit. You only have instruments and piloting skills to get everyone home for Christmas safely.
Can you find the runway and make a smooth landing?

It's too long at 15 mins with no change in scenery after the 1st min. Since there's no guidance (bearings, distances, waypoints etc) people will use VFRMap. Otherwise it'd be a good challenge.

Hi YaySky, thanks for the comment.
Good or bad we always take things objectively to improve our offerings.
For this challenge in the 152 you need to set the frequencies for the KIM VOR to monitor the airfield direction and Humberside ILS in order to navigate through the very low visibility by following the glideslope, as a pilot without VFRmap would do IRL, depending on old school instruments and math to get to your destination safely. We don't tell you how to do that as it's part of the challenge with this genre of aircraft.
Unfortunately we can't turn off VFRmap for landing challenges as it can be for bush trips as the powers that be have a "do not change this this value" statement in the SDK (last time checked), so that's a no go area and potential CTD for a product not following the rules.
One of the objectives of the challenge is to set up the 152 for a very low visibility approach and then execute your journey to safety. We found as you say it's all a bit to long, so we added some wind gusts to keep you focused on your instrument. fifteen minutes felt like 2 or 3 when testing before a decision was made to release.
Thanks for your support and we really do appreciate all feedback

Thanks Scooty!
Yeah, there's a real lack of grass roots aircraft in the sim currently.

Is the wind supposed to be this strong and variable?

Hi Mate!
It is indeed. IRL fog usually means little to no wind, but with that, the challenge was very easy, and with it being quite a long flight, a bit boring. Winds were added to make it more of a challenge to stay on course, requiring 100% attention at all times.
I can share privately how to change it if needs be ;)
