Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, ICAO: EGDY (HMS Heron) is an airfield of the Royal Navy and British Army, sited a few miles north of Yeovil, Somerset. It is one of two active Fleet Air Arm bases (the other being RNAS Culdrose) and is currently home to the Royal Navy Wildcat HMA2 and Army Air Corps Wildcat AH1 helicopters, as well as the Royal Navy's Commando Helicopter Force Merlin HCi3/4/4A and Wildcat AH1 helicopters.

The base was built in 1941 and has been home to several naval Air Squadrons. In the 1970's it became the home of the Commando Helicopter Squadrons, using the Wessex HU5, the Sea King HC4, and later, the ex-RAF AgustaWestland AW101 Merlins.
In May 2009 AgustaWestland AW159 Wildcat HMA2 helicopters began operating from Yeovilton, and in 2015 the consolidation of the Army Air Corps (AAC) resulted in a large regular aviation regiment of Wildcat AH1 being based at RNAS Yeovilton.
The station holds an annual air show when the airfield is open to the public. It includes both a flying and static aircraft display. The air day traditionally ends with the Commando Helicopter Force role demonstration, which sees a mixture of aircraft and land forces demonstrate a land assault delivered from the air.
Good scenery, harriers load in and the private heli but not the wildcat and merlin helicopters, why is that?

Really pleased that you have made this. In your pictures there are lots of Merlins. I do not have them. Followed instructions and installed. Any idea why.

You also need EGDR which contains the Merlins.

So nice that you made this. We visited the base, well actually the museum, on our holiday in 1994. I know because my son was 4 at the time. And we were welcomed by an overwhelming noise (one of the kids cried) that turned out to be a landing Harrier. I am looking forward to trying out the Harrier at Yeovilton next month. Thanks again.

Thank You for your work, is there anyway to lose the commercial named hangers and perhaps model the museum entrance better. I would love to see Wildcats and parked in their proper place. A great start, look forward to refinements.....

Brilliant! Thank you so much for answering my request, I assumed it was long forgotten and had given up. Everything I could've wanted for this airfield is in this add-on.

Great! I was hoping someone would build this! I went there to visit the museum a few weeks ago (well worth the trip) and can’t wait to fly to and from it tonight when I get on my PC! Thank you.
You’re on a roll with your releases recently!

Nice work. Could you fix the hovering hangar of Wynne Aviation?

Nice work Tag21. 5 stars. The default was very underwhelming.

Must agree 100% with everything. I live halfway between here & Exeter, so I tend to use it as a start location if I want to do some quick IFR training ( because I probably won't get lost if I mess up! ) and yeah, the default is very dull.
A sadly quiet place these days even with the army Wildcats, don't get buzzed much now. Feels like there's more Merlins parked here than the RN actually own :D
Edit: might be worth pointing out the Museum & what's in it, for people who're passing by & might not be aware.
