¿ Who is Sacyl ?

Castilla y León Health - better known by its acronym Sacyl - is the public service that manages public health services in the Spanish autonomous community of Castilla y León, belonging to the National Health System, established in 1986 and heir to the National Institute of Health.

In 2011 it was the third highest rated autonomy by citizens according to the health barometer with a score of 7.06 points, below Asturias and Navarra. However, in 2012 it fell five places in the same assessment, obtaining a note of 6.86 points and moving to seventh place, although remaining above the average of the 17 Spanish communities (6.57 points).

Story.

Royal Decree 1480/2001, of December 27, on the transfer to the Community of Castilla y León of the functions and services of the National Institute of Health.2

Effective date of the transfer
The transfers of functions and resources that are the object of this Agreement would be effective as of January 1, 2002, with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Castilla y León taking over, with Carlos Fernández Carriedo as Director (1999-2003).
Regional Health Management (SACyL). Decree 287/2001, of December 13, approves the General Regulations of the Regional Health Management of Castilla y León as the competent body for the administration and management of services, benefits and health programs of the Administration of the Community of Castilla y León .

Since that date, they have served as Minister of Health, César Antón Beltrán (2003-2007); Francisco Javier Álvarez Guisasola, doctor (2007-2011), Antonio María Sáez Aguado also doctor (2011-2019).
