Michaelwood Airstrip, Gloucestershire. GBM04
I've also seen this called Lower Wick but I prefer the name Michaelwood. Not sure if this is still actually active but you can still see a runway on the latest imagery so why not? Just another basic farm strip. 1,360ft runway good enough for most things that count. There's quite a sharp dogleg at the southern end of the runway to get onto the taxiway to the hangar. Dunno what the hell the real life hangar looks like, it looks quite tiny on imagery. The one I'm using here is just one of the small ones from the base library but even then it still looks a bit too big. There's a windsock for your convenience as well.
There's a farm on the southern approach that I redid using the Emerald Object Library and the Bush & Back Country Library. It doesn't look great up close and I didn't bother with any detail, but it looks somewhat like a farm when you fly over it when coming in to land which is all that matters. Better than the autogen anyway! There's a solar panel farm in the next field to the north which surprisingly was not covered by mamu82's Powerlines and Solar Farms mod, so I added it myself. Kinda reminded me of my first mod at Frogland Cross but when I did that one I didn't know about the magic of vectorpoints so I had to manually place a ton of objects which took quite a lot of time. Thanks to the magic of vectors this time around it didn't take nearly as long.
I've been cutting down on my library usage a bit so there's only two real requriements, the aforementioned Emerald Object Library and the Bush & Back Country LIbrary and mostly for the farm buildings. I also put in a few vehicles from Ethnicfs vehicles library but that's not really mandatory.
Well this is my sixth airfield in this area. Another basic one like Badminton without much bells or whistles. Included a map in the screenshots showing this and my other strips. Why not check them out?
Cheers!
