Hello
Here is the Beaufort-Woods-Memorial-Bridge.
The bridge was built in December 1959, and is named in memory of Richard V. Woods who was killed on duty as a Highway Patrol Officer. That bridge replaces an even older swing Bridge from 1927.
One of the facts about the bridge is, that it pivots instead of lifting up. Another famous fact, is that it was the "Mississippi River Bridge" in the Forrest Gump movie. Yeah, remember when Forrest with an already pretty long beard and his red shorts, runs across while TV guys tried to have some comments, and that Mississippi sign. Seriously! Many parts of the movie were made in Beaufort county, in South Carolina.
It opens every hour to let the boats go through. If you miss the timing, you are good to wait, and about waiting, when the bridge opens in real life, as it is on the main road, it's not long before making a big traffic jam downtown. But what would Beaufort be without that landmark. The tourists are ready with their cameras to see it turn.
The big feature of this new add-on, is that the bridge is animated. Not as in real life... it goes a little faster here and a special guest is playing in the water to be ready for each opening.
I'm still sad about the textures. Blender makes such nice material, so realistic, but there is a bug, and it is mostly between the chair and the keyboard. Yes, I'm pretty sure that it's me. I'll need more hours for finding how to share from Blender to MSFS without losing all that nice work.
I have a 3060 GPU, so let me know if a non-animated version would work better for you. I should maybe upload both.
Let me know.
One more thing. The sun hits very hard here in SC. If you want see the colors of Beaufort, just take off from KARW a little after sunrise or before sunset, make a 180-degree turn left hand, which will make you come directlt above the Woods Memorial Bridge, then follow the river, (soon I'll share the next bridge). You'll fly along the Marine depot, and continue toward the ocean. Once there, turn left to follow the shore line, and you will soon be near the Light House of Hunting Island State Park, and another left turn to fly over the harbor River Bridge, then go back to land at KARW.
Just unzip and place the file in your community folder, and enjoy., but please, come back and let a comment to tell me what can be done better.

This amazing! Most excellent job! There's a bridge in Yorktown Virginia just like this bridge called the Coleman Memorial Bridge you also probably easily fix that one! Thanks for your great work!

Looks great, thanks for this and the Harbor River bridge! Would personally prefer the animation to be slower to give it a more realistic feel. But either way, great work!

Thanks for your comment.
The animation is definitely not realistic. Opening every hour in a slow motion as it is in real life would be the best. I can imagine the MSFS pilots flying in circles to see the bridge turning, as the tourists do in Beaufort, but the problem is the size of the file. There is 24 screens per second of animation. If others developers know a way to do long animation without having a big file at the end, I would like to learn. Maybe script does that.
As I learn every day, I may find a way to do it soon. Come back for updates.
I will upload soon 3 other bridges of Beaufort, and the marshes looking like marshes, and not forests. The marshes update is the biggest visual improvement for VFR over the Low Country, but it's a lot of work.

Hi all,
Here is the last update of the Bridge. It turns, cars go on it, and you can even try to drive on it with your IconA5. Be careful, because if you are on the turning section while it turn, the game doesn't carry the plane, and you will soon check the water temperature.
Choose your challenge. Fly through when it opens, or drive through when it's closed.

Just checked this out - no issues for me! Animation looks nice and makes for a fun "time it right to fly through" challenge. Thanks for the location info on your uploads, too. Much love from KDYB!

thanks.
I was thinking of that "flying through it challenge". I tried to have the parts as "collision material", but it doesn't seems to work. I was proud to flew through it on my first test, so I tried to flew through it when it was close... and I survived too.
As I wrote, I need to learn how to do things with blender, and then how to have them in MSFS. I'm at level 0.00001. LOL or cry.
I want to have a sail boat going through too, but first, if I can have the bridge's colors right, that will be a good start.
Have fun, and hopefully more fun to come.

Thank you for the preview! I can hardly wait until this delightful bridge is complete. I recently flew the entire length of the Mississippi, and this bridge would have been a nice addition (the default is a dreary mess)!
May I suggest that in the future you don't show a tease as version 1.0, that implies a finished product. It is popular to add "WIP" at the end of your title, which means work in progress. Might reduce any confusion about this wonderful preview.

Thanks for your comment. I didn't know about the WIP. I'll try to see how I can change that on the current name. I should have wait to be done. Sorry

Wait..so you're saying that if i download this,i get a pink bridge?
fosheem
He did say that this was a "tease" and that the final bridge is coming. But I too was surprised by the pink (it's why I then read the description).
